Kevin Costner is said to be “devastated” since his wife of last 18 filed for divorce.
The “Yellowstone” star and his wife Christine Baumgartner confirmed their separation last Tuesday.
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have arisen that have forced Mr. Costner to participate in a dissolution campaign,” a rep for the actor said in a publicly released statement for PEOPLE magazine.
We understand, therefore, that it was not the actor’s wish to split from the mother of his three children Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12.
The handbag designer is said to have given “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. Kevin Costner has since revealed that a prenuptial agreement was in place, believed to protect some of the wealth he had accumulated prior to their marriage.
In 2004, the two married at the actor’s Colorado ranch in front of his family and friends, including Tim Allen and Mary McDonnell, the actor’s co-star in They Dance With Wolves.
According to divorce papers from TMZ – which was the first news outlet to report the split – the former lovers have reportedly filed for joint custody of their three children.
Kevin Costner is also a father to four adult children: Joe, Liam, Annie and Lily from his previous relationships. Before Christine, Kevin Costner was married to Cindy Silva from 1978 to 1994.
