Knife threat in Saguenay: he bites the police trying to arrest him

A 29-year-old man who allegedly threatened another person with a knife in Saguenay bit a police officer who was trying to drive him back to the police station after his hospitalization.

The incident began on Thursday evening when the suspect allegedly threatened another man with a knife on rue de Montfort in the Jonquière sector.

The victim contacted the authorities the next day to file a complaint in this case, which would involve guilt. That same evening, officers from the Saguenay Police Service (SPS) managed to locate the suspect in question.

“Following his arrest, the person complained of being unwell. He was therefore hospitalized. But when he was discharged from medical treatment, he refused to leave the hospital,” explains Sergeant Jessy Pelletier of the SPS.

The 29-year-old would have become very aggressive and would have bitten a peace officer. Therefore, force was required to escort him back to a cell at SPS headquarters.

He is due to appear on Saturday to face charges related to Thursday’s events, but also in relation to the attack he caused on police during his arrest.
