From the pages of Deadline we find out Hideo Kojima and Hammerstone Studios by Alex Lebovici have teamed up to make a film adaptation of death stranding.
Hammerstone Studios will fully fund the film, which will be produced by Kojima and Lebovici with their respective studios. Kojima Productions US and Allan Ungar will serve as executive producers.
There are currently no details on the actors and plot of the film, which may not be a faithful adaptation of the first or second game. According to Deadline’s sources, it was actually intended to introduce “new elements and characters to the Death Stranding universe.”
According to Lebovici, the Death Stranding film adaptation will differ from the high-budget adaptations of other games, with a more “intimate” and fuller character “creative and artistic freedom”.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios,” said Hideo Kojima. “This is a defining moment for the franchise and I’m really excited to be working with them (Hammerstone Studios) to bring Death Stranding to the big screen.”
“We are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to work with the brilliant and legendary Hideo Kojima on his first screen adaptation,” added Lebovici. “Unlike other big-budget video game adaptations, this will be something much more intimate and down-to-earth. Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be given creative and artistic freedom. This film will be a true production of” Hideo Kojima”.
Hammerstone Studios has funded other films in the past including Kung Fury, The Barbarian, Zeroes to Ones, Bill & Ted Face the Music, Come Away and The Public.
For the time being, no further details have been announced about the film adaptation of Death Stranding. In any case, it will be interesting to see how Hideo Kojima finally fulfills his dream of working on a film.
Meanwhile, Death Stranding 2 was officially announced a few days ago with a trailer released at The Game Awards 2022.
