Kris Jenner underwent a full-body MRI in the latest episode of The Kardashians.
It’s the latest health treatment the family has championed on the show.
It’s also quite inaccessible to the average person.
Kris Jenner has her body scanned.
Jenner was locked in an MRI scanner for nearly an hour while watching Dateline and underwent a health screening ahead of her 67th birthday to check for health issues. It happened to be held at Prenuvo, a startup that offers preventive MRI scans for early detection of diseases like cancer, and included talks with the company’s co-founders, Dr. Raj Attariwala and Andrew Lacy, and Head of Strategic Partnerships Alina Ioani.
Jenner’s scan, shown on Thursday’s episode of “The Kardashians,” gave the all-clear — according to Dr. Attariwala actually found her brain “perfect” and her body to be that of a woman in her 40s, which Jenner obviously found exciting. But that peace of mind would have cost Prenuvo as much as $2,499 for the 60-minute full-body scan she appears to have undergone.

A Prenuvo spokesperson told Insider that it can’t speak to “a patient’s personal experience” or confirm the services Jenner received, but said the company “doesn’t pay sponsors.”
This wasn’t the first health song and dance on The Kardashians, and it probably won’t be the last. But at a certain point, the family’s obsession with showcasing bougie treatments begins to tax the viewer’s patience.
I have no doubt that Jenner cares about her health, and I can’t necessarily fault her for using her considerable fortune to do whatever it takes to maintain it. But it’s a lot easier to do whatever it takes to be proactive for your body when you have the money to do it.
The Kardashians filmed a series of controversial health treatments
An optional full-body MRI is not untypical for The Kardashians. On the Hulu show’s first season, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber received vitamin IV therapy in Miami, which Kendall said was a “really fun day.” Some experts are skeptical about the positive effects of IV treatment and aware of its risks, BuzzFeed News reported. According to the publication, the cost doesn’t typically go below $100 and typically ranges from $350 to $800.

In another episode, Kendall takes Khloé Kardashian for a SPECT brain scan, which measures blood flow in areas of the brain. It was created by controversial psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen, whose colleagues have criticized his methodology and accused him of fear-mongering. For his part, Amen previously told Insider that he stands by his science and that it helps destigmatize conditions like anxiety.
Criticisms of Prenuvo are similar: Experts previously told insiders that this type of preventive full-body exam could lead to more unnecessary procedures — for those who can afford the treatment. A Prenuvo spokesperson told Insider that the company’s goal “has always been to make this scan more affordable and accessible than possible.” The company is “very confident” in its methodology and accuracy and that the benefits of the scan outweigh its risks.
It’s more about the message
“The Kardashians” aren’t operating under false pretenses: It’s about one of the wealthiest and most influential families in the world, and there are many things they do that are inaccessible to the average person, from private jet trips to lavish birthday parties. Seeing that the lives of the super-rich are part of the show’s appeal, and the pursuit of pensions that many people can’t afford, is just another example of this.
To her credit, Kendall says in season one that her health has become her “top priority” to the extent that she “eats herself alive” at times and becomes fixated on it. For her, she said, treatments like the vitamin IV infusion are calming.

But Kris Jenner’s admission that she’s “proactive” with her healthcare and preaches the importance of the scan herself is just the latest in the family’s eulogizing the virtues of preventive and complementary care, which largely falls under the purview of the elite . And it’s getting a bit much.
