Nick Boyle could still be in Raven’s plans
Harbaugh didn’t rule out veteran tight end Nick Boyle returning to the roster.
The Ravens did without Nick Boyle Saturday, a fifth-round pick in 2015 who was a critical part of the offense for several seasons as one of the NFL’s best blocking tight ends.
A serious knee injury in 2020 marred Boyle’s career, and he’s played sparingly in 12 games this season, playing in 108 total snaps on special teams and 61 offensive snaps.
Harbaugh said the Ravens are keeping their options open with Boyle.
“Nick’s a guy who’s been here a long time, and we’ve been through a lot,” Harbaugh said. “Nick plays good football; even this year he’s played a lot of football. So we had to make a squad change. We have some opportunities to bring him back or possibly the training squad.” , such things. So I would still say that Nick is still in our plans.
Gus Edwards remains on concussion protocol
Veteran running back Gus Edwards walked out of the regular season finale against the Bengals in the second quarter and did not return after being evaluated for a head injury.
“I’ve had some updates, but it’s in the process right now with the concussion protocol,” Harbaugh said. “We’ll see where it goes.”
Edwards had four carries for 16 yards, including an 11-yard run, to open the game. He has gotten stronger since starting the season on injured reserve while still recovering from the cruciate ligament rupture that forced him to miss the entire 2021 season.
The Ravens want Dobbins and Edwards to stay healthy as a double whammy going into the playoffs. Dobbins rested a healthy scratch in Week 18 and Edwards’ status will be assessed throughout the week.
Harbaugh saw nothing dirty ravens Play in week 18
Several Bengals accused the Ravens of dirty play during their Week 18 encounter, a game that was intense and tough. Harbaugh denied the allegations and defended his players.
“I obviously studied the game very closely,” said Harbaugh. “Anyone can do that and it’s clear our players played a clean game as they always do. Millions of fans watched the game too, and they saw the same thing. So I’d just say let them be the judges, but I’m not going to get into that. I don’t go into that with other teams, nor about other teams – I never have, I never will.”
The Ravens-Bengals rivalry will reach a new intensity when they meet in the playoffs for the first time. It was an even streak throughout the regular season, with the Ravens holding a 28-26 lead after each team won at home that season.
“It’s always been a good rivalry,” Harbaugh said.
