Comedian Leo Lins was charged with biased jokes and “promoting hatred and discriminatory, offensive and humiliating attacks, particularly against black people, people with disabilities and people from the Northeast.” The information was published on Tuesday (5) in a communication from the MPSP (Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo).

Also according to the organization’s statement, the comedian “challenges authorities in several states on his shows and on social media.”

“Hate crimes committed by the comedian were targeted by an MPSP task force through CyberGaeco and the Human Rights Prosecutor’s Office […] “The authorities imposed fines if the comedian continued to publish content that was likely to humiliate, embarrass and offend minorities.”

The court blocked Leo Lins’ bank accounts and an amount of R$300,000. Additionally, the comedian’s YouTube channel and his TikTok account were suspended for 90 days.

It is worth remembering that this is not the first time that the comedian has been the subject of controversy. In May of this year he was forced to remove a comedy show from the internet which contained jokes that were considered biased. At the time, Leo was also banned from posting new content on social media that could be considered offensive, or from keeping videos and publications containing “derogatory or degrading content” available.

Leo Lins has not yet commented on the matter. The space remains open and this notice will be updated if there are demonstrations.

Nardoni case, hydrocephalus and more: Leo Lins never tires of controversial jokes and piles up lawsuits

This week, the court forced Leo Lins to remove the comedy show Perturbador from digital platforms. The court decision came at the request of the MPSP (Ministry of State of the State of São Paulo), which considered some lines of the comedy special to be biased. The comedian, who says he was censored, is still banned from publishing “derogatory or degrading content” on the internet. However, this is not the first controversy involving Lins. After the court overturned the comedian’s show, an old post by Leo Lins went viral on social media. In the post in question, the comedian makes fun of the murder of Isabella Nardoni, a girl who was killed by her father and stepmother in 2008 when she was thrown out of a 6th floor window. In 2020, the comedian shared the news of the birth of Isabella Nardoni’s mother’s new son. “I just hope she lives on the ground floor,” he said, sparking outrage among internet users. One of Lins’ biggest controversies that led to his firing from SBT was a joke the comedian made during a standup show about a child with hydrocephalus, a condition characterized by the buildup of fluid in the brain. “I saw a video of a boy in the interior of Ceará with hydrocephalus. The good thing is that the only place in the city where there is water is his head. The family didn’t even have it removed, but installed a well.” “Now the father gets the water for his son and everyone is happy,” he said at the time. After this joke, the MPCE (Ministry of State of Ceará) filed a lawsuit against the comedian. The public civil lawsuit sought to ban the comedian from making biased jokes at shows in the state. The MP also asked the court to fine the comedian for any possible disrespectful mentions at shows in Ceará. The proposed amount was R$20,000 for each biased speech. Leo Lins also found himself in controversy when he made jokes about celebrities. He has previously mocked MC Kevin’s death after he fell from a hotel balcony in May 2021, causing outrage among the funk player’s family. Valquíria Nascimento, the artist’s mother, and Deolane Bezerra, to whom the singer was married, commented on social media. “To me he is an asshole, he will continue to be an asshole. He has already lost a contract and if he loses the legion that praises him for the nonsense he says, it will be even better,” said the influencer In 2022, Leo Lins was ordered to pay R$ 44,000 , after insulting the mother of an autistic boy on social media. He responded to the lawsuit seeking damages after his thengirlfriend made a comment saying the comedian was “a little autistic.” At the time, people involved in antidisability movements warned that the term was not an adjective. Another case the comedian lost was against dancer Thais Carla. She won the lawsuit against the comedian for making jokes that were considered antifat in a video showing how difficult it is for fat people to sit in airplane seats. Lins was ordered to pay R$5,000 for moral damages. When he broke up with Aline Mineiro after “A Fazenda 13”, Leo Lins said he played DJ Ivis songs for his girlfriend so she could listen to them when he got home, remembering the DJ who arrested for attacking his exwife, Pâmella Holanda. “Disgusting,” the influencer, a victim of domestic violence, wrote on social media
