“HOSTILE” THEFT
Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov on Wednesday urged Washington to halt “enemy” flights near Russia’s border after an American drone was intercepted by Russian fighters in the Black Sea the day before.
“We expect that the United States will refrain from further speculation in the media space and will halt flights near Russian borders,” Antonov said in a statement on Telegram. “We view any action involving the use of American weapons as openly hostile,” he said.

UKRAINIAN GRAIN EXPORT
The United Nations on Tuesday estimated that the international deal on grain exports from Ukraine, which has allowed relief of a world food crisis since last summer, should remain in place beyond March 18, even if Russia has halved the term.
“The grain agreement will continue for the time being,” said Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during his press conference at the UN headquarters in New York.
Answering questions by Saturday about the renewal of this “Black Sea Grains Initiative” between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations, which was sealed in July and renewed in November, Stéphane Dujarric replied: “We are doing everything we can to ensure the continuity of the agreement”.

AMERICAN DRONE
Tensions between Washington and Moscow remain high after an airstrike. The United States has accused the Russian air force of “intercepting and ramming” and crashing an American Reaper drone over the Black Sea, which Russia denies.
“Our MQ-9 drone was conducting routine operations in international airspace when it was intercepted and rammed by a Russian aircraft, resulting in the crash and loss of the MQ-9,” General James Hecker, commander of the American Air Forces in Europe, said Confirmed information previously released by AFP on an incident involving a Reaper in the Black Sea.
It is the first time since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory on February 24, 2022 that a NATO country backed by Ukraine has admitted the loss of equipment operated by itself in this highly flammable region.
