BY Sandra Lucario-. Despite the success of the soap opera “Yo soy Betty, la fea”, there are certainly those who recognize Lorna Cepeda as “La Peliteñida” rather than by her first name. More than 20 years ago, Colombian actress played Patricia Fernández, a “hateful” woman who said, “Poverty is breathing down my neck, Marce,” but insisted on doing the opposite.

Patricia Fernández is a reference in Colombian soap operas. The way she stroked her hair, her plaintive accent and the way she said “disgraceful” are just some of the mannerisms with which the Latin American public remembers her. But the success achieved has not made them immune to moments of crisis, some economic, others health and other professionals.

“I was in the dirt”

The actress had to experience firsthand some of the situations involved in “La Peliteñida”. In a recent interview, he admitted that at one point he was “in the mud” (he didn’t even have money for the bus).

In her presentation, she mentioned several times that she was a “strong, confident, highly millionaire and debt-free” woman, but also confessed that after the separation (she was married to Eduardo Paz from 1990 to 2003), she went through a difficult time because She was in debt: “Imagine, with three children, alone and I was unemployed for a long time.”

The actress blamed her accountant for poor work for the debt she owed to the National Tax and Customs Directorate of Colombia (DIAN) a few years ago: “And suddenly from one moment to the next they told me that I owed something. I didn’t do it.” I knew what I owed, and it turned out that there was a lot of interest and a lot of difficulty.

Although she did not give details about how she managed to get out of the problem, she recalled that people from DIAN helped her. Although she thanked them for not capturing her, she said that she complained to them at the time: “But you have to demand more money from the people who owe a lot more money than me, that must be negligible for you.” be,” she said remembers him telling them.

He also recalled turning to the Virgin of Guadalupe to help him get out of that economic downturn that he never thought he would overcome: “The truth is, I went there, to Mexico, and there I did I told her, ‘Please, I’m begging you.’ for these three things.’” The actress confirmed that everything she asked for was fulfilled and assured: “I really recommend it (buying a ticket and traveling to Mexico City),” she told host Juanpis González Pombo .

Your cancer diagnosis

It has been seven years since Lorna Cepeda received terrible news after several medical examinations: her doctors told her that she had skin cancer. The actress had already suffered from cancer twice when her mother and son Nathaniel were diagnosed with the same disease.

Although his mother could not survive, her son was miraculously saved. According to the actress, a few days before the operation they conducted some tests that changed the course of history: Nathaniel, who was seven years old at the time, “somehow no longer showed any traces of cancer.”

When they discovered her melanoma it was “very difficult, I don’t think I could carry on, I was serious in every way.” The actress said her trust in God made her want to talk to him and accept him asking that he would keep her “perfectly healthy” if she survived.

The miracle happened one day as he lay in bed when he felt hands applying pressure to the injury. He noted that during a medical examination the doctors told him: “It seems like he never had anything.” Since then, he has been undergoing examinations “with a magnifying glass.”

His beginnings as an actor

Another difficult moment for Lorna Cepeda was her first steps as an actress. The actress began her career in the Colombian television series “Fathers and Children”. Although it was “an impressive school,” he noted that part of the credits included “being a liar.” And when asked if she had experience, she said yes, but “obviously I had never done anything in my life, not even a mime, just at school.”

Since he didn’t audition and was never asked to provide proof of his resume, they gave him the role. The actress emphasized that she was able to get ahead thanks to her good memory, punctuality and attentiveness. She explained that she was scared and wanted to run away, but the director was very good to her and she finally said her lines in the frame.

The actress recalls: “Everything was going perfectly, I said, ‘No, I’m a great actress. That’s my thing.’

However, the moment of truth came when he had to star in “Dulce Martirio”. The actress admitted that the production people were very upset with her because “I was there as if I had never done anything in my life.” After being frustrated for a few days, she was able to continue her career thanks to the invitation of the Actress Silvia de Dios to take acting lessons with Colombian actor and theater director Alfonso Ortiz.
