“Love lies in the meadow”: Marie-Soleil Dion reveals some secrets of the new season – Le Journal de Montréal

The 12the Season of Love lies on the meadow will begin with a bang on Thursday when farmers will finally meet their applicants.

So far, the show has been involved in the formation of about fifteen couples and the conception of 34 children, including six in the last year alone.

Marie-Soleil Dion followed in the footsteps of Marie-Ève Janvier and Katherine Levac and trusted her instincts when hosting her favorite show, which she followed conscientiously from the start.

“I'm very intuitive in life and that's how I approached my animations. I arrived very well prepared, but I wanted to really trust what would be built, what would evolve with the participants,” she said in an interview with QMI Agency.

“For me on this show it's important that the host is genuinely interested and involved in what's happening with the contestants and that's exactly what I did. I remained myself and engaged as if they were my friends[e]s,” she continued.

“They are genuine people who are looking for real love and want to build a life with someone. […] I think that we really make a difference in their lives and that the show is useful. It’s not just a reality show,” added the host, who is coping quite well in this new role.

This year, the oldest member of the group – whose members all describe themselves as romantic creatures – Théo, 51, dreams of a woman who will find happiness in his country. Sabrina, 24, the only farmer in the group, is looking for a connection with a person, a man or a woman, who can bring her out of her shell. Charlie, 28, is looking for a man who is ready to build an authentic relationship.

Projects that make sense

The presenter, who wants to get involved in necessary projects more than ever, will be omnipresent on the small screen this winter. “I think it will be good for young people who think like that; to see that they exist on the screen and that they have the right to exist. And I think that by listening to the series, people who are transphobic or homophobic will develop an attachment to the characters and by watching them evolve over ten episodes, by seeing the main character's internal struggle, the reality of the “People who are transphobic or homophobic could better understand trans,” the actress said.

The latter will also show the documentary “Les heritières” (directed and written by Julie Blackburn), which will be broadcast on Télé-Québec and will take place on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Council on the Status of Women.

“We were interested in the progress that has been made over the last 50 years at various levels in relation to the status of women and women's lives. We are actually attacking four areas; “Power, having, being and knowing, i.e. education, politics, women in business and the relationship to the body,” she described, adding that she would make a documentary again at some point.

“I think we don't know much about the history of feminism and feminist struggles in Quebec, but we should be more interested because more and more of these struggles are coming back,” she continued.

Marie-Soleil Dion will finally reprise her role as Christine Lévesque in the comedy Contre-Offre alongside Noémie O'Farrell, Emmanuelle Lussier and Antoine Vézina. The pregnant realtor has to learn to stop and slow down, “which is quite a challenge for her,” said her interpreter, who is convinced that this fourth season is the best.
