On his Instagram profile, Lúcio Mauro Filho posted a recording and became emotional as he spoke about the sudden death. “My sweet brother Alex left without a spoiler, without a final chord, like an abrupt silence in the middle of a fortissimo,” he began in the post’s caption.

Alex Moreira was the winner of the 2015 Brazilian Music Prize and twice nominated for a Latin Grammy. He was also a producer for several MPB names and one of the founders of the Rio trio Bossacucanova. The musical group was founded in 1997 by Moreira, Márcio Menescal and Marcelinho da Lua.
Moreira was married to singer Cris Delanno, who also took part in Bossacucanova performances. The musician’s family has scheduled a farewell ceremony for Monday at the Cemitério Vertical Memorial do Carmo in Caju, Rio’s port area.
