Luis Miguel's return to the stage in 2023 caused controversy from day one, although those who attended his shows attested to the unrivaled talent of “El Sol”.

It's not the first time that the enigmatic singer's performances have caused controversy. Incidents on previous tours gave rise to discussions about his health and the postponement or cancellation of some dates. One of the most notable episodes was the interruption of the concert on March 13, 2019 at the Modelo Alberto Spencer Stadium in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

That day, the audience was already there, eagerly waiting to see Luis Miguel. The concert was scheduled for 8:00 p.m. but was delayed by heavy rain. Attendees sat expectantly in their seats, still hoping to see El Sol rise again after the storm. It was not like that. After almost two hours of waiting, it was finally announced that the show would not take place.

Businessman Juan Carlos Carmigniani, head of So High Events, which operates in Miami, Panama, Ecuador and Costa Rica, described the situation as catastrophic, with the heavy rains damaging screens and generators, and despite announcing a possible postponement of the event date , ultimately never materialized.

Later, the media announced that the singer left the country that same night: Luis Miguel left Ecuador as soon as he could to travel to his next destination, Colombia.

What happened that night amid this storm and speculation?

In an interview with Mara Patricia Castañeda, Adal Ramones, who had a good relationship with both businessman Carmigniani and Luis Miguel, recounted the events of that night.

“I have a partner in Costa Rica (Juan Carlos Carmigniani). We have several stores there. He gives concerts. Then he says to me: 'Adal, he canceled me'… At a pretty difficult time for Mickey. 'The ride was canceled because it was raining'… And people were upset,” the driver said. The incident prompted the singer's team to ask the businessman for help in opening the airport for him.

According to Adal's story, Luis Miguel sought assistance to land in Costa Rica. “Then Juan Carlos talks to the presidency in Costa Rica, they find the president's right arm, his private secretary, and he talks to the president and they say, 'I'd love to hear from you.' We will open the airport for Mr. Luis Miguel, just if the family can take a photo with him.'”

According to Ramones, upon noticing Luis Miguel's discouragement, Carmigniani contacted Luis Miguel and requested his presence to encourage the singer. However, due to work commitments, the “Otro Rollo” presenter was unable to attend at the time.

However, the anecdote of the host of “Otro Rollo” has some contradictions, since press reports indicate that after the cancellation of the concert in Ecuador, Luis Miguel had to wait for several hours at Guayaquil airport before leaving for Colombia on a private plane, and not after Costa Rica.

It was during this waiting time at the airport that the pictures of Sol de México were taken, lying on some chairs while a woman gave him a head massage.

According to the newspaper La Prensa Gráfica, immigration authorities detained the Mexican singer for a few hours before authorizing his departure because his departure was urgent. Maybe he would have sought the president's help here, as Adal Ramones says.

How did Sol and Adal Ramones' friendship come about?

Adal Ramones is one of the few Mexican communicators who had the privilege of interviewing Luis Miguel twice in his show “Otro Rollo”. According to the moderator, these interviews are by no means just media encounters, but have apparently created a special connection between the two.

The conversations took place under unique circumstances and in unconventional locations. The first took place in 2001 at Gianni Versace's residence in Miami. The second in Cancun.

At the first meeting at Versace's house, both made a pact for a future reunion, which marked the beginning of a special bond between the communicator and the artist.

“Something very strange happened because when we met at Gianni Versace's, I grabbed a dollar and he signed it. And I broke him in half and said to him, 'I hope we see each other again. I'll keep this in my wallet.' “The singer replied: 'Me too, Adal.'”

The reunion took place a few years later, in 2003, in Cancún, where the “When the sun warms” singer gave only three interviews, one of them for “Otro Rollo”.

Then Adal took the opportunity to pull out the signed note. To the moderator's surprise, Luis Miguel took his half out of his pocket.

That same day, Adal was invited to Luis Miguel's dressing room, an intimate setting with features such as a pool table and his clothing rack. In the midst of this complicity and trust, Luis Miguel confessed to being a fan of the show: “He told me: 'I have to tell you something. In the country I arrive in I say: 'They don't do that.' “Give another roll today? 'cause I won't miss it'”.

The emotion and amazement when I remembered Luis Miguel's interest in his show highlighted the chemistry that emerged between these two Mexican characters, which goes beyond what is usual in the entertainment industry.

The unconventional encounters, the shared anecdotes and the mutual admiration show a relationship that has developed beyond television sets and stages.
