The owner of the Spanish security company UC Global, SL, David Morales, is suspected of having carried out the espionage for the American secret service. The meetings took place in 2018, in a series of meetings between former President of Ecuador from 2007 to 2017, Rafael Correa, and former South American heads of state. The information revealed that Spanish judge Santiago Pedraz, who has been investigating the businessman for various crimes for three years, would have ordered an analysis of Morales’ computer which was seized by police in 2019 after his arrest. Morales’ computer was evaluated by experts appointed by the defense of Australian journalist Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks. Morales was hired to provide security at the Ecuadorian embassy in London and is said to have ordered officers to spy on Assange’s meetings with his lawyers.
However, according to the investigation, Morales is also said to have spied on the meetings of the then President of Ecuador in order to pass on information to his successor and political opponent Lenin Moreno.
A virus was installed on the mobile phones of Correa’s two daughters. The software made it possible to control all the messages and conversations of the young women during their studies in France.
According to the new analysis of Morales’ computer, the name CIA appears several times on an external hard drive on which he archived the projects and operations in which he was involved. Intimate photos of a diplomat were also found in a safe at company headquarters. The images are said to have been used to blackmail the Ecuadorian authorities.
