Marino was beaten in the first round

Rebecca Marino was eliminated in the first round on Monday night and she has to take a lot of blame.

The Vancouver native, who is ranked 103 in the world, lost in two sets 3: 6 and 1: 6 to British Katie Boulter (72nd), a player from the qualification. The meeting lasted only one hour and five minutes.

Marino had a difficult game on serve, which is his forte.

In the first set, he hit a mere 39.7% efficiency ratio on his first serve. It’s just not enough to win against a higher ranked player.

She did slightly better in the second set, but her efficiency ratio was 46% by the end of the game.

too much breakage

Marino’s inefficiency on serve affected his entire game.

She suffered two service breaks in each of the two sets and also committed numerous unforced errors.

Still, Boulter didn’t play a stellar game, but she was effective where Marino wasn’t.

Boulter also showed more creativity in destabilizing his opponent at key moments.

Disappointed

Marino was well aware of her plight on duty.

“I saw the stats and I wasn’t particularly happy. I had a little trouble with the wind, but that’s no excuse.

“It made a difference because my serve is one of the best parts of my game.”

However, she also paid tribute to her opponent, who had prepared well for the game.

“She was annoying. She played two games, which allowed her to feel more comfortable.
