Martha Stewart’s four dogs mistakenly kill a ‘defenseless’ cat

Martha Stewart was mourning after her four dogs tragically killed her ‘defenseless’ cat, which she mistook for an intruder.

“Funeral of the beautiful and unusual Princess Peony,” the lifestyle guru wrote in a post on Instagram on Sunday. “The four dogs mistook her for an intruder and killed her defenseless little self.”

She added: “I will miss her very much. RIP beauty.”

Stewart, 80, attached a photo from Princess Peony’s funeral, which showed three men digging a hole in her garden.

She later shared a close-up of the deceased ball of fur lounging on a fluffy rug and simply captioned the post, “That was the Princess Peony.”

Interestingly, Stewart only posted last August about her cats fearing their dogs.

“My cats feel relieved because the four dogs are on vacation. Leave the cats alone in the house to run around, relax, recover !!!” She captioned photos of her cats, one of which appeared to be Princess Peony at the time.

Several of Stewart’s famous friends and fans flooded the comments section on Sunday to send their regards.

“So sorry ❤️,” Ellen Pompeo commented on the post.

Kris Jenner chimed in with three teary-eyed emoticons.

“Omg Martha, I’m so sorry! RIP Princess Peony…you were loved so much 💗 🙏🏼,” one fan wrote.

“😢😢 I’m so sorry Martha. Sending you comfort and hugs💕,” added another.

“What a beautiful girl she was. I am very sorry. Rest in peace sweet girl.” another commented.

The founder of Martha Stewart Living is known for her love of animals. She hosted the Puppy Bowl in February and posts regularly about her French bulldogs Creme Brûlée and Bete Noire. She also has a passion for horses and owns other cats.

It’s unclear how many pets Stewart has, although it’s clear Princess Peony is missing.

A spokesman for Stewart did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
