maybe it’s the stepsister

According to Seoul intelligence services, it would be Kim Solsong: she always carries a black bag, from which she took out documents useful to the marshal during his public appearances

A new assistant has been appearing in Kim Jongun’s shadow for a few weeks now. The woman, apparently in her 40s, always carries a black bag from which she was seen pulling out documents useful to the respected North Korean Marshal during his public appearances. In particular, he pulled out a folder containing papers for a speech to Labor Party cadres.

Analysts at NK News, which sift through and catalog all photos released by Pyongyang, first noticed her on February 28 and then in April counted four occasions when the lady was spotted at Kim’s public activity scene. According to Seoul intelligence agencies, it would be Kim Solsong, halfsister of Kim Jongun, born December 30, 1974. Daughter of Kim Jongil, second leader of the dynasty, and Kim Youngsook, second of his four Wives, little recognized in regime nomenclature, reportedly married at the behest of Kim Il Sung, founder of the DPRK.

Kim Jongun, born in 1984 from the union of Kim Jongil and Ko Yonghui, a Japaneseborn classical dancer to Korean parents who returned to Pyongyang in the 1960s, has a dossier on Kim Solsong in Seoul marks her as close to her father’s heart. After graduating in economics from Kim Il Sung University, which forms North Korea’s elite, she was sent to study in Paris under a false name in 2005. Some deserters who arrived in South Korea reported that the woman worked directly for Kim Jongil in the 1990s, in contact with the security services. She was reported following her father on inspections of armed forces units: on those occasions she would have worn the uniform of an army lieutenant colonel.

South Korean intelligence believes Kim’s halfsister went into military service, eventually running an office of high command. Then she would be assigned to the propaganda and agitation department, which takes care of the regime’s image strategy. He was also responsible for the regime’s literary publications, which are checked by the Propaganda Department.

Defectors say Kim Solsong is handsome, 165 centimeters tall, which is a remarkable stature for a North Korean. After a period of confusion, she returned to the stage as the personal assistant to the Supreme Leader, who has been held in the past by his halfsister Kim Yojong, known as Kim Jongun’s super advisor. Kim Yojong, born in 1987, also worked for the propaganda department with the rank of deputy directorgeneral before being promoted to the party’s central committee. And even in her handbag there were tools intended for the marshal’s use, such as scissors for cutting ribbons at ceremonies, fountain pens for signing documents, even an ashtray (all the details were captured by analyzing the photos).

There is a third woman in the Marshal’s magic circle: Hyon Songwol, former lead singer of Moranbong Band, promoted to deputy director of the Central Committee. Both Kim Yojong and Hyon Songwol continue to be sighted around Kim. The new halfsister would be in a minor role.
