Menudo introduces its new members and promotes “Mi amore”

You are full of the illusion to impress with style.

Between big smiles and expressions of enthusiasm, the members of the group, which is part of the new generation of Menudo, were happy to live a dream stage where they can shine in their desire to sing and dance.

Alejandro Querales (15), Andrés Emilio Pirela (14), Gabriel Rossell (13), Ezra Gilmore (12) and Nicolas Calero (10) were selected from nearly 400 applicants last year in Los Angeles, Miami and Puerto Rico . Part of Menudo Productions’ music and entertainment franchise, this revival, which features a new logo of the legendary youth band that rose to fame in the 1980s and early 1990s, includes acclaimed actor and presenter Mario López as one of its partners.

Mi amore, sung in English, is the group’s debut song, which narrates the decision to break up in a relationship. “It’s about a girl who is a manipulator that broke our hearts all,” Venezuelan Alejandro, who, like the rest of the group, lives in the United States, said via video call from New York. Andrés Emilio added determination to break up with the young woman of interest who voices the single. “We don’t want anything more with her,” said the Venezuelan, expressing his joy at the recording of the music video. “It was a very fun experience for all of us, the choreography,” added the music theater lover.

Gabriel emphasized his excitement for creating the visual clip. “It was months of perseverance, discipline and work. We rehearsed the choreography, a lot of things, but it was worth it,” said the spirited Venezuelan, who also spoke about the experience of performing on the Good Morning America (ABC) program yesterday, Monday.

“It was great. We were all nervous, we’ll admit it, but at the same time we were super happy, excited, with so many things going through our heads. Incredible, really. A beautiful experience,” he said enthusiastically, sharing his admiration for Mario López, who accompanied her in the interview on the television show. “He is an experienced person. It helps us when we’re nervous and the truth is we all want to thank Mario López for all the support he’s given us.”

Nicolas, a Puerto Rican father and Russian mother, also praised López’s personality. “He’s an amazing person overall. He’s very friendly,” said the New Yorker, who, like Ezra, only speaks English and who, among the members of the original Menudo, admits to being an admirer of Ricky Martin. He also stated that acting is one of his interests.

Ezra, a basketball and video game lover, shared on the TV show how much he enjoyed the experience. “I won’t forget her. That was amazing,” said the Delray Beach, Florida resident. “It was a relief and it was amazing because we finally did what we’ve been practicing for months,” said the young man of Nicaraguan and African-American descent, who confessed his desire to open a restaurant because “I love cooking.”

Miami, where Alejandro, Andrés Emilio and Gabriel live, is the meeting point for rehearsals and project planning. Gabriel revealed that to keep up with their school commitments, they take virtual classes, especially since their promotional tour requires them to travel to different destinations. In addition, at least one parent of each accompanies them in every administration related to this artistic phase that they live.

Andrés Emilio spoke of his admiration for the famous band Menudo, whose extensive roster included Ricky Martin, Draco Rosa, Johnny Lozada, Ray Reyes and Ricky Meléndez, and highlighted the relevance of their songs. “What I like about old Menudo is that his music has no age. His music can live on for generations and generations,” he said. Gabriel also shared his interest in using her as a reference. “For me, it’s the perseverance and discipline it took to get there and be recognized around the world.” Alejandro, who counts skateboarding among his favorite hobbies, highlighted the group’s development. “I really admire that it started out as a ‘let’s make a bandage’ idea and then grew into what it has become.”

Although Mi amore is the theme she is focusing on on her promotional tour, Menudo plans to continue bringing “more surprises” including new singles and the release of an album.
