A missing 86-year-old climber is in the Alpspitz area after four days Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the German state Bavaria was found. The elderly man wanted to climb the Alpspitze on Wednesday, police reported on Sunday. After a last phone call with his wife, during which he said he would sleep on the mountain, contact was interrupted. In the four days that followed, the man would have lost his cell phone and wandered through the forest.

When he discovered a forest road on Sunday, he lay down, it was said. A cyclist saw him there. Even before he was rescued by the mountain rescue service, the 86-year-old called his wife, he said. He came to a hospital for an examination.
