The body of a 35-year-old American woman, who had not shown any signs of life for more than a year, was found wrapped in plastic in the refrigerator of her ex-partner, who had told police he had no further news about the woman since she left him.
Last week, Heather Schwab’s body was found in a refrigerator at her ex-partner Chad Stevens’ home after the 42-year-old suspect’s ex-wife informed police that the missing woman may have been buried in her backyard, Fox4 reported last Tuesday .
However, after a search of the garden without leaving any traces, the police discovered that part of the house, which contained a refrigerator, had been demolished.
“The only entrance to the kitchen was suspiciously locked and hidden from the rest of the apartment [avec un muret de cloison sèche]“, says the arrest warrant affidavit, according to US media.
The 35-year-old McKinney County woman was reported missing last June by her mother, who said she had not heard from her estranged daughter in more than a year.
According to Fox4, the suspect then stated that he had not had any contact with the woman since the alleged breakup.
Chad Stevens eventually admitted to investigators that the death dates back to July 2022, but offered varying explanations about the causes of death, ultimately claiming that the woman died after hitting her head in the shower.
The forty-year-old is currently charged with tampering with evidence and remains in custody. However, new charges could be added once the exact cause of death is determined. The investigation is ongoing.
