His release would have undermined public confidence in the administration of justice, judge Benoit Gagnon of the Quebec court ruled.

Oumina hit the 30-year-old victim in the face with a projectile while he was handling his firearm. The incident occurred on April 13 at the defendant’s house.

The circumstances surrounding the commission of the crime, the fact that the 27-year-old fled the scene and the country are factors that the judge took into account.

Recall that he was arrested at a Spanish airport after two months on the run.

The case of Mohammed Amine Oumina will be heard in court again on November 2nd.

If found guilty, he faces at least four years in prison.
