Three men, including two brothers, allegedly kidnapped a person and threatened to kill them after realizing they had kidnapped the wrong person.
According to prosecutors, Jeffry Arista, Jonathan Arista and Raymond Gomez violently kidnapped the victim outside his home on Friday, October 13, in Florida, USA.
WTVJ-TV reports that one of the defendants forced the victim, wearing a police uniform, into a white Dodge Charger.
When they arrived at an Airbnb, the men allegedly removed the mask from their victim, only to realize they had kidnapped the wrong person.
According to WTVJ, the trio planned to kidnap the victim’s colleague.
The kidnappers then allegedly took the man to a toilet, covered his face and began torturing him with water.
Prosecutors said they also threatened his life and pointed guns and an electric drill at him.
The three men then set about kidnapping the right person. According to prosecutors, they forced their victim to enter the facility where their victim worked in order to lure him outside.
However, once inside, the victim called the police instead, who then arrested the suspected kidnappers.
Mr. Gomez told investigators that he and the Arista brothers took orders from another person and attempted to take over a man who owed money to their employer.
If convicted, the three suspects each face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
