The Wildcat concept revealed at the Montreal Auto Show last year was hiding something. Far from being an exercise in freestyle, the three-shield Wildcat rather hinted at the brand's new aesthetic signature. The corresponding codes can already be found on certain products from this American brand, including the Envista.

The Envista is presented as a Canadian preview in the metropolis and is the ticket to the Buick range. This “fake-real” utility (it's powered by the front wheels only) adopts several features of the Wildcat. Among the most visible are the headlights with the shape of boomerang leaves, the lowered radiator grille and the hood extended with a curved rib. These three elements form a strong visual identity and will ultimately be found on all of this manufacturer's products. Chrome plays an important role in beautifying this body, but without excess. To prove this, Buick has today dispensed with the nickel-plated circle in which the three shields were traditionally embedded (now redesigned), symbols of the brand since 1959.

But let's go back to the Envista, which Buick presents to us as “an urban SUV.” However, its sleek silhouette makes us think it could also attract the attention of buyers fed up with utility vehicles. Designed in the USA and produced in South Korea, the Envista is technically derived from the Encore GX. To minimize costs (this model is available for less than $30,000), the interior design is entirely carried over from the Encore GX. That means? A redesigned instrument cluster, an oversized central screen (11 inches) and a flat steering wheel at the bottom. The trimmings, materials and textures vary depending on the variant you choose. There are three: Preferred, ST and Avenir.

Additionally, Buick is expected to unveil its first electric vehicle in the coming weeks, expected to be marketed under the Electra prefix. Several observers believe that this new model is a derivative of the Electra E5 currently sold in China. Buick will also launch the third generation of the Enclave. This will be the last Buick with an internal combustion engine.
