A young mother of three, who came from Nunavik to seek treatment in Montreal, mysteriously died after being hit by a vehicle while in her wheelchair on the 520 freeway on Friday morning.
On Thursday night, Mary-Jane Tulugak, 22, posted a snap to her Facebook account while being joined by another woman with a drink on the table, slot machines in the background.

But within hours, for some reason still unknown to authorities, the mother-of-three was driving in a wheelchair to the west section of Highway 520 near Marshall Avenue in Dorval, Illinois, just west of the metropolis.
At that moment she was violently hit by a female driver in her fifties.
She finally succumbed to her injuries during the day on Friday. The driver suffered a nervous shock.

Mary-Jane Tulugak was from Puvirnituq, a northern village of about 1500 people on the east coast of Hudson Bay.
She lived in the center of Ullivik, on the corner of avenues Orly and Michel-Jasmin.
The establishment, which is not far from the scene of the tragedy, welcomes Inuit who come to the metropolis to seek medical care.

Ongoing investigation
The Sûreté du Québec has launched an investigation to find out the exact circumstances of the death.
Authorities will examine the last 24 hours of the deceased to determine what led them to Highway 520.
The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services did not respond to our interview requests.
