Mysterious furry snake discovered in Thailand

Caught in early March in a swamp in the province of Sakon Nakhon in northeastern Thailand, a hairy snake about 6 meters long intrigues scientists. According to Yahoo! Australia, reports Geo magazine, the green fur covering the reptile is actually algae grown on the scales of this water snake.

“The scales sit above the skin and are mostly made up of keratin,” the New South Wales scientist told our colleagues. According to the specialist, the algae will fall off simultaneously with the scales during the next molt.

A simple water snake?

Captured by a 49-year-old resident, the reptile was kept in a box filled with water before being released to the public on Facebook and TikTok social media. These images allowed the experts to see that the snake had no facial hair. According to them, he must have made them disappear by rubbing himself to keep his vision from changing. According to them, this is a simple water snake from the Indonesian archipelago.
