Naldo Benny, 43, took to Instagram Stories to announce he was replacing singer Drake at Lollapalooza after the Canadian’s team reported the cancellation of his performance at the festival.
On social media, followers joked about the possibility of replacing him with the Brazilian singer: “It’s your time to shine, Naldo Benny.” The artist responded, “Call me and I’ll fix it.”
After that, Naldo recorded some videos saying he was on his way to the festival to “fix the problem”.
I’m in Paraty [no Rio de Janeiro] Now. Well, another mission for me, right? I heard Drake canceled the show. And Lollapalooza is already calling me here. Woke up to zapping and emailing from a group of people calling me to cover Drake’s cancellation. That means Drake canceled and we’ll have Naldo Benny at Lollapalooza. The voice of the people is the voice of God. People ask for Naldo and then I come, huh
The singer even posted notes about his arrival at Lollapalooza. Naldo arrived at the festival by helicopter and activated the event’s beverage sponsorship brand.
“You asked and we took Naldo Benny to Lolla. The world is our stage and our artist will still surprise you,” reads the post, which features Naldo in Lollapalooza. It is worth noting that, despite his presence, he did not perform at the festival.
Drake cancels show
As the main attraction of the third and final day of Lollapalooza Brasil 2023, Drake canceled his appearance at the festival. The information was confirmed by the festival itself. He was replaced by Skrillex,
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Drake is without members of his sound and production team, which is essential to the realization of the Lollapalooza show in São Paulo. Drake was thrilled to be performing for his fans in Brazil. Unfortunately, this is beyond his control. Sorry,” said the musician’s team.
