Nathan Rourke stays with the Jags

Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke will join the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad.

The TSN network learned this on Wednesday, two days after the NFL club released the Victoria native.

The 25-year-old pivot signed with the Jags last January after being dominant with the British Columbia Lions during the 2022 Canadian Football League (CFL) season.

During the Jaguars’ preseason, Rourke was impressive. In three games, he completed 23 of 35 passes for 348 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. One of his plays also went around the world when he eliminated pressure from several Dallas Cowboys players before throwing a pass for a major.

Last year, in his first season as a CFL starter, Rourke rushed for 3,349 yards and 25 touchdowns in just 10 games. He had missed several games due to a foot injury.
