NHL: an offensive feast between the Penguins and the Flyers

The duel between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday at the PPG Paints Arena certainly did not please fans of the defensive game.

In fact, Sidney Crosby's teammates had the upper hand over Sean Couturier's with a score of 7 to 6. The last 40 minutes of the game were particularly lively as the two teams flashed the red light ten times.

Trailing the Flyers, who are in third place in the Metropolitan Division, by nine points heading into the game, the Penguins needed to get the two winning points to stay in the thick of the playoff race.

So they did, and they can definitely thank Crosby as he led the offense with a goal and four assists for five points against Philadelphia. Bryan Rust (twice), Emil Bemstrom, Rickard Rakell, Drew O'Connor and Kristopher Letang are the other members of the Penguins who hit the mark.

For John Tortorella's men, Tyson Foerster and Travis Sanheim stood out with two wins each. Scott Laughton and Cam York also found the gap.

Pittsburgh will return to action on Tuesday against the Canucks in Vancouver. The Flyers, meanwhile, will host the Tampa Bay Lightning on the same day.
