Nicole Richie took to social media to share some of her childhood portraits with her mother Brenda Harvey-Richie on Monday.
During a holiday visit home, the 41-year-old reality star took a walk down memory lane and posted some photos of herself as a child on Instagram, adorned with gold frames.
She recently celebrated her younger sister Sofia Richie’s upcoming wedding to music executive Elliot Grainge at her bachelorette party in Paris two months ago.

Alongside a tree emoji, she wrote in her caption, “Home for the holidays.”
Posing alone with her adoptive mother in front of a portrait of her younger self, the fashion designer donned a plunging black gown with flared sleeves.
To emphasize the plunging neckline – which also revealed her black bra with a pink bow – she wore a jeweled and gold necklace that fell to the perfect length.

She rocked a festive red manicure and adorned her wrists with diamond-encrusted tennis bracelets.
She wore her blonde highlighted hair in a half-up and half-down style with casual, natural waves at the bottom and a loose bun at the crown of her head.
In the portraits, she and her mother – who was married to singer-songwriter Lionel Richie, 73, from 1975 to 1993 – had matching voluminous and curly ’80s hair.

She wore extravagant and elegant princess dresses in all the framed pieces.
In one look, she and Harvey-Richie wore matching dresses with a bodice embellished with beads and lace.
The musician and his first wife adopted Nicole when she was just nine years old.

They adopted Nicole in 1990, about three years before their divorce.
“Nicole was actually a godsend,” Lionel told People in February. “She was a little girl who needed an injection.”
Nicole is the biological daughter of his friends who were struggling financially.

“She was used to people coming and going,” he said. “She looked at me and I said, ‘I’m not going anywhere.’
Lionel and Brenda split a few years later amid rumors she discovered his infidelity with stylist Diane Alexander, 55.
“Brenda and I have had a very interesting time,” added Lionel. “We didn’t agree on a lot of things, but we agreed [Nicole].

In 1996, Lionel and Diane married and had two children – Miles, 28, and Sofia, 24 – before divorcing in 2004.

Nicole married the lead singer of the pop-punk band Good Charlotte, Joel Madden, 43, in 2010.
Together they have two children – Harlow, 14, and Sparrow, 13.
