No-makeup Kate Winslet lands in Cannes before a glamorous event honoring female filmmakers
When Kate Winslet landed in Cannes on Friday ahead of the Lights on Women awards ceremony, she was reticent.
The 47-year-old actress was spotted leaving Nice Airport with her entourage as she made her way to her hotel to relax and escape the evening’s entertainment.
The Hollywood star opted for a casual ensemble, wearing skinny jeans which she paired with a plain black tee.
The mother-of-two wore a gray suede jacket that matched her charcoal anthracite ankle boots.
She completed the look with a large navy blue handbag and complemented it with a selection of delicate gold chains.

Kate went makeup-free on the outing to show off her natural beauty and wore her lustrous golden locks loose to frame her features.
Later in the day, Kate will work with Cannes Film Festival sponsor L’Oréal Paris to honor female filmmakers with the Lights on Women award.
Kate serves as President and judge of the award, where the winner will be promoted on L’Oréal’s social channels and given the opportunity to have their film screened by the brand.
In addition, L’Oréal brings the winners together with advertising agencies and producers through other events.
Though Kate didn’t take on the challenge of directing, she did serve as executive producer on the Emmy-winning series Mare of Easttown.
She most recently starred alongside her daughter Mia Threapleton, 22, on the Channel 4 series I Am Ruth.
In the TV drama I Am Ruth, Kate portrays worried mother Ruth as she tries to help her teenage daughter Freya, played by Mia, overcome a mental health crisis after being overwhelmed by social media pressures.
When the show aired in December, viewers were quick to praise the couple for their “strong” performances in the drama, which they described as an “important” portrayal of mental health and social media.
