Recommended with 88% and yet heavily criticized for the second season, there will be no fourth season for this series! Netflix is clearly no longer in the Viking mood and has just announced that Season 3 of Vikings: Valhalla will be its last. The series, a spin-off of “Vikings” set more than a thousand years ago, at the beginning of the 11th century, tells the heroic adventures of famous Vikings, including the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson, his sister Freydis Eriksdotter and even the Der ambitious Prince of the North, Harald Sigurdsson. Jeb Stuart, the creator of the series, is positive. “I am so grateful that I had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald and Freydis,” he said. “I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of three of the most famous Vikings who became the icons we know today, and that’s exactly what we did,” says Jeb Stuart.

Vikings: Valhalla: a “logical” ending

“When we started this project five years ago, I worked hard with this incredible team to create a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying,” recalls the director, who emphasizes: “Of course with real historical figures: “There always are.” Other aspects of their lives could be explored, but it made sense that Leif, Freydis and Harald’s journeys would end with our third season. “We can’t wait for fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of the story,” concludes Jeb Stuart.

Vikings: Valhalla: What will happen in season 3?

Fans are naturally excited to discover the third season episodes, which take place seven years after the events at the end of the second season, where Freydis Eriksdotter is now the undisputed ruler of the pagan city of Jomsborg. Leif Eriksson and Harald Sigurdsson, for their part, enjoyed fame in Constantinople. The series’ cast will also be expanded with the arrival of Goran Visnjic, who will play the role of Erik the Red, the legendary father of Leif and Freydis, who lives in exile in Greenland after committing crimes in Iceland and Norway.
