North Korea announced that it had simulated a nuclear missile attack to warn the US of the “threat of nuclear war.” Pyongyang fired several cruise missiles, some of which were equipped with fake nuclear warheads, as part of a simulation of a tactical nuclear attack, according to the North Korean news agency KCNA. According to KCNA, the exercises were “aimed at warning enemies of the real threat of nuclear war.”

The exercises were conducted at dawn on Saturday and included “two long-range strategic cruise missiles with dummy nuclear warheads.” The staged nuclear attack was in response to joint military exercises by the United States and South Korea earlier in the week, KCNA added.
