Honduran journalist Ana Jurka surprised her followers after revealing the truth about her departure from Telemundo.
Ana Jurka ended 2023, completing a major cycle in her career. At the beginning of December, the sports presenter said goodbye to the Telemundo ranks and focused on family time.
Now, calmer and more sincere, the Honduran native expressed in detail the reasons that led her to distance herself from her programs on the small screen, despite the television network doing everything to keep her.
“It was my decision and I made it for my family and my desire for growth,” he said in an interview for Las Top News, in which he reiterated that the company had nothing to do with the end of this phase of his professional career . “I was actually very happy to a certain extent. It has nothing to do with having a bad feeling about Telemundo or anything, quite the opposite. I feel like I needed something that the company couldn't give me at that moment and it has nothing to do with money, it has nothing to do with me asking for something here or there, it's just that, what this is for my family The schedule I was on was very difficult,” he added.
Ana hosted the sports show Zona Mixta, which was broadcast live on weekend nights, which meant she could get away from her family at important times. “I worked during the week, my schedule was very different because those of us who work in a non-sports network rely on FIFA data, on x and/or z. “My constant was that I was there on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and left at 3 a.m.,” he emphasized in his conversation with Mandy Fridmann.
“I liked it, but it was very difficult for my family. It was already causing problems in my personal life. Despite the fact that I loved what I was doing, I had to make the decision that either my schedule was changed or I had to leave,” he continued. And her desire was clear: to have free weekends to spend time with her children Seth and Noah and her husband Joshua.
“I wanted to continue, just not at that time. My boss told me that sports always take place on weekends. What I wanted to say is that Telemundo is not a sports channel,” he added.
Ana tearfully confessed that she had even been offered a great financial offer to keep her, and in the midst of so many meetings and conversations, she asked God for a sign and received her answer. If they didn't give her weekends at the final meeting, she would leave no matter what they put on the table, because she understood that it was the heavenly message she had asked for.
After her departure, speculation began about a new professional stage at the Univision television station, an approach that Ana accepted there, but not as such an offer. “We’ve had conversations and they’ve gotten to this point.”
On the other hand, he said that he received a proposal from another place that he had to reject because he was asked to move, a decision that he is now making as a family. “I received an offer in December and couldn’t accept it. I had to move because of my planned job. This included working on weekends and the numbers were not good enough to make the move possible,” he said.
