A hiker made a terrifying discovery on Friday afternoon while hiking in the karst of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. While walking near the Aurisina cemetery, near a wooded area between the cemetery and a road, he found a headless corpse among some bushes. According to the Italian daily newspaper “Il Piccolo”, it was just a few meters from the rest of the body. Both the head and the other remains were clearly decomposed. It is currently believed that animals were responsible for separating the head from the body.
Authorities presume the body is that of a woman. A 75-year-old woman from the region has been missing since October last year. She lived just a few hundred meters from where the discovery was found. A detailed investigation was launched. Only then will we know if it was an accident, a suicide or a murder.
