While many still rack their brains just trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube, a brand new champion has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for managing to solve the puzzle in just 3.13 seconds.
Amid the cheers and confusion of the crowd at an event in California, 21-year-old American Max Park broke the previous record of 3.47 seconds for the 3x3x3 cube held since 2018 by Guinness-listed Chinaman Yusheng Du of the records can be seen in video shared by The Guardian on Friday.
“The atmosphere was electric. “Everyone knew he had just broken the record and I think everyone was a little shocked,” his father, Swan Park, told the Guinness Book of World Records. I don’t think anyone was expecting it that the record will ever be broken.
The new winner had appeared in the 2020 Netflix documentary series The Speed Cubers alongside Australian champion Feliks Zemdegs.
Max Park already held speed records for 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 6x6x6 and 7x7x7 cubes.
