A 31-year-old Toronto resident has been charged with dozens of counts of sexually assaulting a minor, Toronto Police said on Wednesday, saying there could be more victims.
Daniel Langdon faces 39 counts of sexual assault and is suspected of making and possessing child pornography, Toronto Police Department said at a news conference.
The victims, who were located in various locations in the province of Ontario, Canada’s most populous region, were attacked online via social networks such as Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter.
“The multiple victims are between 7 and 17 years old” and the facts “would have occurred between April 2021 and February 2023,” said Vijay Shetty of the police in Canada’s largest city.
The defendant, who is very active on social media, “would have used multiple usernames and email addresses on different platforms, and in some cases would have changed his image to look younger,” he also explained.
During a search of his home, police recovered child pornography and evidence that he had sexually assaulted a 7-year-old child at a Toronto park.
The man, already known for possessing child pornography images in a 2016 case, has been banned from visiting parks and having contact with youth under the age of 16.
Arrested on February 7, Daniel Langdon appeared in court the next day and has been in custody ever since.
