Original Club Illico series: Prize in Cannes for “About Antoine”

series About Antoinewhich tells the daily life of a severely disabled teenager and his family with great gentleness, emotion and truth, was honored on Tuesday at the Diversify TV Awards at MIPCOM in Cannes.

This original Club illico production stood out in the “Representation of Disability – Screenplay” category, which initially received 165 entries from 27 countries. The aim of these awards is to recognize productions that promote diversity and inclusion in television.

The ceremony took place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

About Antoine, produced by ComediHa! also won the Best Foreign French-Language Fiction Award at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival in France in collaboration with Quebecor Content. The series will be presented in November at the GIFF 2023 International Series Competition, the Geneva International Film Festival.

Filming for the second season is in full swing in Quebec, where the action takes place.

About Antoine tells the story of Julie (Cathleen Rouleau), who begins a new love life with Marc (Claude Legault). She is then drawn into an unusual family and becomes stepmother to two children, including Antoine (Antoine Parent-Bédard), who is disabled, autistic, mentally challenged, non-verbal and suffers from high-functioning epilepsy.
