The rain calms the situation down again
The increasing rain has calmed the mood in the front rows of the demonstration. The heavy throwing of fireworks and bottles from 10:10 p.m. has subsided in the last few minutes, coinciding with a rain that is no longer light.
One of those present in the front row used a fire to deliver a slogan to those present: “Good Spaniards respect the police, be careful, screw it.”
The reaction didn’t take long to arrive: a few seconds later the bang of a firecracker could be heard landing in the area designated for the press. They also fired a flare at the police cars.
Firecrackers continue to fall from time to time and shouts of “The police defend the amnesty” and whistles ring out in the front rows of the demonstration. However, gaps can already be seen on the slope of Marqués de Urquijo Street.
At one of the bars in the area, Mesón Lagar, customers say they are fed up with the noise and disruption caused by the protests. “Here the victims are the neighbors, the press and the hoteliers. The road is closed and these people need to make money. That’s all…” comments an Andalusian customer and resident of the area.
