Paolo Guerrero surprised all his fans when he announced his departure from Racing Club de Argentina. After several days of events, the Peru team’s historic goalscorer was encouraged to speak out about his future; However, when asked about a possible retirement, the 40-year-old striker was curious and made it clear that the issue concerned him.
“Football is my life, day by day, I will not leave it… How can I leave it? It touches me, I don’t want to talk about it. I’m talking to my wife about it, and she knows what it’s costing me to think about it and say I recently left,” he told ESPN.
“I was unemployed for a long time because I sustained a knee injury. That put a lot of mental strain on me. Even during the doping phase, I couldn’t go to the stadium or visit my teammates at any club. I was out of pro and I relived it with the injury I had,” he added.
“I’m not thinking about giving up football,” Paolo Guerrero confirmed that he was not thinking of retiring and spoke of his love for the sport.#ESPNF90 | @ESPNFootballArg pic.twitter.com/sJmrBFxO6D
