That’s what it’s all about

  • Hundreds of civilians were killed in Hamas’ attack on Israel.

  • The fate of a couple who managed to save their twins is now going viral.

  • Itay and Hadar Berdichevsky were murdered by the terrorists.

When Hamas attacked Israel, terrorists killed civilians indiscriminately. Mike Ben Yaakov, commander of an Israeli search dog unit, describes the unbelievable scenes this way: “They went from house to house and murdered.” The terrorists carried out the biggest massacre at the Nova Festival, where around 260 ravers were killed. There were horrific images on social media that were difficult to bear.

Little by little, more atrocities come to light. Itay and Hadar Berdichevsky hid their 10-month-old twins when Hamas terrorists tried to break into their home. The parents were murdered, but they managed to save their children’s lives first. The twins were found alive by Israeli soldiers 14 hours later, Israeli media reported. Murdered parents are now celebrated as heroes. “Your children will know about your heroic deeds, rest in peace,” writes a user on X (formerly Twitter).

“This is a big failure”

Many Israelis, who have been confronted with violence for decades, are shocked and furious that the heavily armed country could be caught by surprise. “This is a huge failure. Despite all the technology, the fences and the high costs, it is unbelievable,” an Israeli IT expert in Tel Aviv told the German Press Agency.

Similar to the surprise attack by several Arab states on Israel in October 1973 in the Yom Kippur War, many questions are likely to arise for the government, as well as the intelligence services and military, after the hot phase of the conflict ends.

Israel responds with massive bombings

Hamas launched a major attack on Israel on Saturday and fired thousands of rockets into the country. Tens of thousands of Israeli soldiers were mobilized to repel Hamas fighters who had also advanced into Israeli territory. Hamas rocket attacks and Israeli retaliatory strikes in the Gaza Strip continued on Monday. Both sides complain of hundreds of deaths.

The Swiss Foreign Ministry said that on Tuesday the airline Swiss would organize a special flight to bring Swiss citizens from Tel Aviv to Zurich. The late afternoon flight was “mainly” intended for local Swiss citizens. The ministry estimated the number of Swiss registered in Israel and the Palestinian territories at 28,000; So far, 430 people with links to Switzerland have reported it to authorities. So far nothing is known about the Swiss victims.
