The priest of Minas Gerais, André Valadão, became the target of criticism in his own Instagram post after publishing images in costumes at a “Halloween Gospel” party last Tuesday 31 in the United States.

“I think that’s a bad tone. If I had wanted the world in the church, I wouldn’t have left it,” said one follower. Another said that celebrating Halloween is “not of God.”
The photo album shows Valadão dressed as a pilot and his wife as Wonder Woman as well as other costumed people at the church festival in Orlando, USA. “Does your wife know that Wonder Woman is bisexual and worships pagan gods?” says one person in the comments.
“God have mercy on you,” says another supporter, who believes celebrating Halloween is “not for believers.” In a new post, after initial criticism, the pastor wrote: “While we have fun, we also remember the importance of spreading the love and light that comes from Jesus.”
As answer to EstadaoAndré Valadão’s adviser said the event was “a celebration of life.” The statement also said that the initiative aims to unite believers in an enlightened and positive environment and promote the love and light of Jesus rather than darkness. Read the position in full:
“Due to the criticism of the Happy Pumpkin event at the Lagoinha Church in Orlando in the United States, we have informed you that it is a celebration of life, as the translation itself says: “Happy Pumpkin”.
Unlike Brazil, in the United States the culture of Halloween parties, something macabre, is very widespread and mainly affects children. With the aim of transforming this vision and uniting the believers into something enlightened, one life, we decided to hold a celebration on this day.
Despite the controversy and because we know that many do not know Lagoinha Church, we inform and make it clear that we do not celebrate Halloween, but rather distance ourselves from evil and unite our community in an atmosphere of good. In fact, other American churches also host such events.
There is fun between families where we remember the importance of spreading the love and light of Jesus instead of darkness. “Happy Pumpkin” is an escape from death to celebrate the life God has given us.
