Patrick Kane did not meet with the Leafs

Patrick Kane is ready to return to the National League and is reportedly looking for organizations he is interested in.

The 34-year-old veteran is an voluntary free agent. He had hip surgery this summer and wanted to be back to 100% before training began. He would also have chosen patience to see which teams would succeed.

Last Tuesday, journalist John Shannon claimed that Kane had met with the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, the writer retracted his comments two days later, stating that the meeting between the player and the Queen City organization ultimately did not take place.

Kane is reportedly looking for a team where he can stay for longer than one season. The Maple Leafs are already very close to the salary cap and Auston Matthews’ new contract – which begins in 2024-2025 – will not make their life any easier in that regard.

According to the TSN network, the Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers, Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning are all in the running for Kane.

The winger, known for his feints with the puck, amassed 57 points (21 goals and 26 assists) in 73 games in 2022-2023 while wearing the colors of the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers.
