Married to actor Michel Blois for over 10 years, Pedroca Monteiro recalls that discovering sexuality was not an easy moment. According to the actor from the series “Vai que Cola” in an interview with the Patrícia Kogut do Globo column, there was a lot of prejudice back then.
“In the world I was born in, it was a very difficult time back then with so many prejudices. I grew up in a family with traditional values, there was no space to live and think about it. Selfawareness came later, with art. theater has changed my life and my perception of myself and the other,” he emphasized.
Pedroca Monteiro recently published his first book. The work is aimed at children and deals with diversity. The actor confirms that he places his childhood in writing.
“Working for that audience also brings you in touch with the kid you were and in a way you still are. I wrote for the kid I was. It’s about what I would do as a kid, I would love to hear what I wish they had told me,” he said.
For him, the book is about freedom and tolerance. Featuring 10 characters with diverse tastes and talents, the artist celebrates diversity and suggests valuing each individual’s individuality.
“It is a manifesto about freedom and tolerance. It speaks of being open to what is different from us and how much this can transform us and enrich our lives,” he concluded.
