Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may be secretly igniting the wave of anti-Israel demonstrations in the United States.
The Democratic congresswoman from California – noting that she had anti-Israel protesters outside her home “all the time” – pointed out that Putin, like many of the protesters, had supported calls for a ceasefire.
“Make no mistake, this is directly related to what he would like to see,” Pelosi told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
“I think some of these protesters are spontaneous, organic and sincere. I think some have something to do with Russia,” she claimed. “I think some funding options should be explored.”
But the 83-year-old politician downplayed the risks to President Biden in the general election, positing that many of the young people taking part still care about LGBTQ issues, protecting the planet and gun control.
“We will spread a message of values for our country and we will have the resources to get the job done,” she said.

Since Hamas' deadly surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, a division has emerged among Democrats over the war, with some progressives wanting Biden to support the Palestinians.
According to the latest figures from the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian death toll has risen to over 26,000. According to government figures, over 1,300 Israelis have died in both the bloody October attack and protracted fighting on the ground.

Meanwhile, Pelosi also supported Biden when he backed a Senate compromise package on border security. Although she hoped for broader reforms for immigrants such as a path to citizenship and protections for Dreamers, she argued that the agreement was a step in the right direction.
“This legislation is a compromise. It’s a negotiation,” she claimed. “Not everyone has everything their own way. And that’s really important.”
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley recently excoriated Donald Trump for confusing her with Nancy Pelosi. Portal
At one point, CNN anchor Dana Bash pressed the Golden State Democrat over a gaffe in which former President Donald Trump confused her with his Republican rival Nikki Haley.
Pelosi largely avoided the question of Trump's mental cognitive abilities. Both Trump and President Biden's allies have commented on the acumen of the two men.
“Anyone can mix up a name. Seven times is quite a lot. “But the fact is that he lied when he said he wouldn’t send the National Guard to the Capitol,” Pelosi responded, drawing attention to Trump’s comments about the Jan. 6, 2021 riots

Trump said at a rally in New Hampshire that “Nikki Haley was in charge of security during the riots.” She was not.
When Pelosi was further pressed about Trump's mental abilities, he again demurred and bogged down in policy disagreements.
At 81, Biden is the oldest president in U.S. history and would be 86 at the end of a possible second term.
The 77-year-old Trump would already be over 81 by the time of his possible second term.
