Obsidian Entertainment announces the release of the Pentiment soundtrack across multiple streaming platforms. You can find it on Spotify, iTunes and Steam, among othersat this address if you would prefer to have a digital copy.
To match the game’s art style, the Pentiment team wanted to make sure the soundtrack reflected it European Instruments and Music of the 16th Century. For this purpose, they worked together with the music group Alkemie, whose medieval style fits perfectly into the atmosphere of the game. With cloths, old caravans and many other historical instruments they managed to transcribe the medieval atmosphere of Pentiment.
The talented Lingua Ignota, whose real name is Kristin Hayter, composed and performed the song Ein Traum for the game’s epilogue, drew on German traditions of the time for the piano accompaniment and adapted “I once had a beautiful fatherland” for the text. This is a poem by Heinrich Heine, a German writer.
Most of you music lovers and collectors will be pleased to know that a Double vinyl album due out next year. Also included is a cover by the painter Benjamin Vierling, who employs various Renaissance-inspired methods of layering paintings. The artwork in the image above is a portrait of Andreas Maler which is full of symbolic elements of the game and took almost 2 years of work for the artist!
The vinyl will also include a neat gatefold with liner notes, as well as a painting of Our Lady of the Labyrinth by Pentiment Art Director Hannah Kennedy on the back.
