Big fright for the passengers of the Airbus A330-200 of the airline Hawaiian Airlines. The plane, which took off from Phoenix, Arizona, encountered severe turbulence while approaching Honolulu, its final destination, BFMTV said.
“My mother flew away and hit the ceiling,” said one passenger, quoted by Hawaii News Now. “People were crying all around me,” adds another.
Multiple hospitalizations

A total of 36 of the 278 passengers and 10 flight attendants were injured. Among them, 11 were serious. “Several passengers and crew received medical attention at the airport for minor injuries, while some were rushed to local hospitals for further treatment,” the company said on Twitter.

“We continue to support our passengers and staff who sustained injuries today. We also conduct a thorough inspection of the aircraft before returning it to service,” added Hawaiian Airlines.
