Perth synth metal band Voyager are on the verge of stardom as they prepare to play one of the biggest shows in the world.

The boys have been named Australia’s entrants in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held on May 13 in Liverpool, England.

Fans watched the exciting announcement unfold on YouTube on Friday morning.

After 20 years of trying to break into the music business, the band will perform their track Promise in a contest.

Her chosen song is said to be perfect for the world stage as it combines both heavy metal and pop music.

Voyager lead singer Danny Estrin said of the amazing opportunity: “As a long-time Eurovision fan, this is the pinnacle…we think it’s one of our best yet.”

Their participation in the major competition marks the eighth time Australia has participated.

Sheldon Riley placed 15th in the competition last year after performing his ballad Not the Same.

Unfortunately, while the judges praised his performance, viewers didn’t share the same enthusiasm, and he only received two points in the public vote.

Australia’s most successful competitor to date is Dami Im, who took second place in 2016 with her rendition of Sound of Silence.

Jessica Mauboy didn’t have the same success in the competition in 2018, finishing 20th with her tune We Got Love.

Although Ukraine won last year’s competition, the Eurovision Song Contest will not be held in the second-placed country because of the war in Russia.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be broadcast on SBS for viewers Down Under and will be hosted by Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey.
