Between studying music and philosophy, an acting career, a music duo and involvement in politics, Pierre-Luc Brillant found the time to compose instrumental pieces on the guitar. his album compositions offers older songs and new songs straight out of a movie or a long journey.
We thank Louis-Armand Bombardier, the founder of the LA label. because he breathed a little courage into his friend Pierre-Luc Brillant to finally present an album with his own compositions on classical guitar.
“Music is an art form that allows you to send your mind wherever you want,” explains the 45-year-old multidisciplinary artist. On this album I offer musical moments that are like little short films. It’s a very cinematic world. There are many albums with instrumental piano, but few with classical guitar. »
Parallel to
The man, who is also a well-known actor – especially for playing the role of the villainous Raymond in the Jean-Marc Vallée film CRAZY – has always had a healthy twofold heart: one side for the music he fell into in love with youth and another to play with.
“Music and cinema have developed in parallel in my career and it is certain that both influence each other,” adds the man who has shared the stage and his life with actress and singer Isabelle Blais for 10 years. Together with fellow musicians they form the group Comme dans un film.
Soft and enveloping
Pierre-Luc Brillant is responsible for the composition, arrangements and production of his album. (Psst: take a closer look at his photo that became his album cover and you’ll see a “decomposing” fox, hence the title “Compositions”.)
He humbly adds that in creating it, he did not fail to seek advice from people who were “much more knowledgeable than he was.”
This gentle and enveloping album features 12 tracks, some composed during the pandemic. These include the first two excerpts recently presented to the public: the dreamy tango nocturne and Aux adieux, a soothing song written after the death of his mother.
The artist-turned-politician also surrounded himself with fellow musicians on his first opus in the genre, including Christelle Chartray on cello, Guido Del Fabbro on violin, Jocelyne Roy on transverse flute and Nicolas Grimard on “Lapsteel”.
As for the shows that follow, Pierre-Luc Brillant promises to take the opportunity to talk about music, chatting with the audience between songs and being funny while being educational.
