Last May, Sony unveiled “Project Q” after months of rumors. Half controller, half portable console, this device lets you stream your games from your PlayStation 5 to play at home, even in your toilet. On August 23rd, Sony announced the availability of what it officially calls PlayStation Portal (not to be confused with PlayStation Portable). Expected to arrive in a few months, with a slightly high bill: 220 euros.
At the same time, Sony announced a wireless headphone, the Pulse Explore, as well as a new PlayStation headset, the Pulse Elite.
The DualSense experience remains in the PlayStation Portal
What Sony particularly highlights is the fact that the experience of the PlayStation 5 controller, the DualSense, is preserved on the PlayStation Portal. Haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, everything is there from the start to ensure good immersion.

This is noticeable at the controller level: it looks like Sony has created a Nintendo Switch by replacing the Joy-Con with two halves of DualSense. However, it is impossible to separate these controller parts from the screen. The screen is an 8-inch LCD panel with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. For audio, there is a 3.5 mm jack and a wireless connection. PlayStation Link cable with the brand’s headsets and accessories, but no Bluetooth.

With its wireless streaming technology, Sony wants to allow PlayStation 5 gamers to move their screen wherever they want. In fact, PlayStation Portal broadcasts what the PlayStation 5 displays over your Wi-Fi network. The aim is to enjoy it anywhere in your home and in any room without having to move your console. This is reminiscent of the Wii U GamePad controller. As with the PS Remote Play application for Android or iPhone, it will also be possible to play outside your home as long as the device is connected to WiFi. -Fi. Everything then depends on your connection.
Also note: Not all games are supported by this technology. For example, PS VR2 games logically cannot be streamed. What’s particularly unfortunate is that games launched in cloud gaming via PlayStation Plus Premium cannot be distributed on PlayStation Portal, whether via a PlayStation 5 or not.
