President Arce praises the air connection between Bolivia and Paraguay

“We are strengthening the bonds of integration and friendship with the sister republic of Paraguay. “Today we inaugurate the first commercial direct flight of our airline (…) from Santa Cruz to Asunción (…),” wrote the dignitary on his social networks.

The head of state believed that the new route, which costs about $400 round trip, will strengthen trade ties and tourism between the two sister cities.

The new line was inaugurated at an event at Viru Viru International Airport in Santa Cruz by BoA General Manager Ronald Casso. the Minister of Development Planning, Sergio Cusicanqui; and the Ambassador of Paraguay to Bolivia, Terumi Matsuo de Claverol.

In his words, Casso explained that the goal of the BoA ​​is to connect with Asunción with this new route, “this concentration and distribution of passengers” at the Viru Viru air terminal.

He added that from now on we will “offer Asunción the opportunity not only to come to Bolivia, but also to use Bolivia as a bridge to get to the United States, to Europe or to connect with Peru,” said he.

In this context, he pointed out that these flights will initially be carried out three times a week using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of up to 168 passengers.

Minister Cusicanqui, in turn, emphasized that the new connection is an opportunity to make Bolivia a connection center in South America for the whole world.

“We trust that this new route will be consolidated, first of all to unite our peoples,” said the owner, “but also to strengthen economic ties.”

After adding Asunción as one of its destinations, the state-owned BoA is now adding eight new international routes: Havana (Cuba), Caracas (Venezuela); Lima (Peru), Buenos Aires (Argentina); Sao Paulo (Brazil), Madrid (Spain) and Miami (USA).

The first two were inaugurated at the end of October 2023.
