According to the former secretary-general of the political organization, Pedro Miguel González, the current vice president of the republic, José Gabriel Carrizo, another candidate for the position in the 2024 elections, provides public funds, but it is an unpopular candidacy within the Group.
González added that this campaign lacked in proposals and content, although in his opinion it was a very important opportunity to present to the party and the country the PRD’s vision on national development and solving serious problems.
Should he win this Sunday’s primary, he said he would call for, beyond alliances with other parties, a large alliance of the population with various sectors of society to bring about paradigmatic changes in the isthmus of what society awaits.
He believed that the fate of the PRD will be decisive in the next elections if the government ultimately prevails with its proposal, “without any possibility of victory and it will happen that the overwhelming majority of the party will probably take a different line will hit.” .”
Also in this internal process, the party to which he belongs has provided the pre-candidate for the presidency of the PRD, Crispiano Adames, former leader of the National Assembly (Parliament), with a failed government to justify it in terms of public policy in the popular sectors and the middle class.
In statements to news channel TVN, Adames pointed out that the advantage Carrizo has is relative and the result of his handling of the executive branch’s keys, as he has built a platform of threats and harassment from there.
In this regard, he recommended that after the elections, all supporters of the organization must come together and reconsider the political behavior of the PRD and the government of President Laurentino Cortizo, which requires a change of direction, and not now, but for three years.
“There are positions taken by ministers and directors of autonomous agencies that are inconsistent with what the Panamanian people demand and deserve. We brought this to the attention of the government, but they have turned into friendly and influential non-party sectors,” he noted.
