Prince William ‘delighted’ that the Princess of Wales is in the spotlight – but there is ‘one thing that bothers him’, royal expert says

Prince William is “delighted” that the Princess of Wales can take the spotlight at royal engagements, an expert has claimed.

But Roya Nikkhah claimed there’s one thing that bothers the future king – when he’s cropped out in photos to make his wife stand out more.

It’s no secret that during their brief marriage, King Charles often worried about the popularity of his first wife, Princess Diana.

Charles was reportedly “frustrated” with Diana taking center stage – but wife Nikkhah claimed there was a “striking difference” when it came to his son’s attitude.

She told True Royalty TV’s The Royal Beat: “Charles was always very upset when Diana put him in the shade, which has been the case all along.” William is delighted that people are falling for Catherine.

“William is happy with that. I’ve heard him talk about Catherine’s work and how enthusiastic he is about it and he loves that it resonates.”

Ms Nikkhah, the royal editor of the Sunday Times, added: “The only thing I know that bothers him a little is when he’s cropped out of photos.”

“You’ll very often find yourself getting engaged together and making the front page of the news the next day as if William had never been there!”

Kate, 41, is very active in royal life – both with her husband and alone.

Most recently she met with dozens of school children at the Chelsea Flower Show.

This comes after it was claimed that the Princess of Wales’s popularity was “disturbing” to King Charles and Queen Camilla – but the palace sees Kate as a “great role model for the monarchy”.

Kate Mansey, deputy editor of the Mail on Sunday, and Richard Eden, editor of the Chron diary, previously spoke about the Princess of Wales’ surprise appearance at the Chelsea Flower Show.

The royal mother-of-three made her first appearance at the annual event since 2019, arriving hours ahead of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s scheduled appearance.

This comes after claims that the Princess of Wales’s popularity was “disturbing” to King Charles and Queen Camilla – but the palace sees Kate as a “great role model for the monarchy”.

Addressing the frenzy of royal activity at the event, Kate insisted the Princess of Wales “didn’t compete with her in-laws” with her top-secret engagement.

The expert said: “I think she is a great role model for the monarchy.” [and] for the royal family and they appreciate it.

“They wouldn’t have had them there if they didn’t think it would be awesome, so I think there’s a way for all of them to exist.”

In addition, the royal expert noted that the King and Queen are currently in Northern Ireland where they engage in “high-level diplomacy”.

However, Richard Eden noted that the Princess of Wales’ popularity was “disturbing” for Charles and Camilla.

Before the Queen passed away, the royal expert highlighted that there were royal advisers who wanted Charles and Camilla to have as many engagements with William and Kate as possible.

Using the 2021 James Bond premiere as an example, Richard said they would be seen as the “new Fab Four” – following the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the royal family.

He explained: “I think that was a chance to show that this is the future of the monarchy and that it’s in safe hands, something like that.”
